Two other theories in relation to Sirius and the earth in the Quran. 1. The distance of Sirius from earth is 8.61 light years. The number of letters between the first mention of a star in the surah to the mention of Earth later on in the surah is 861. 8.61 light years can be expressed as 861 centi-lightyears. 2. (A bit more far-fetched but still fascinating) The radius of Sirius A is approximated to be 1.71 times that of our sun. If you divide the chapter number of Surah Shams(The Sun) (91) and Surah Najm(The Star) (53) 90/53, the result is 1.71. Allah knows best. SubhanAllah.

It’s so fascinating, even in the context of that time, the star was quite important to the desert Arabs who used it for navigation, as it is the brightest, like you mentioned. Also, other groups used to worship it. It had significance to the ancient Greeks, Egyptians, and Chinese. Even to some modern occultists. So when Allah says, “He is the Lord of Sirius,” He is stating that this bright star that fascinates you humans, Allah created that too.
