Red herring is super easy to counter if you just don’t engage with the deflection and hold the other person to the original argument. Either they refuse to do so and the debate stalls out because they refuse to answer, or they answer and you can continue to press the argument.

Ad Hominem is still effective, people are still swayed by the "How does it personally affect you? It doesn't? Then you can't speak on it." gotcha in an argument. People don't really know what an ad hominem is, they usually think it just means insults.

I hate that quantitative fallacy is so easy to look over I clock it almost immediately. Like you said people think good stats make a good argument and that’s simply not true. It’s not about the numbers it’s about lived experiences.

Straw man used effectively I think is b or a tier. The problem with it is the other person can usually call it out pretty easily. However, if you use it in a way where it’s not easy to point it out, it is incredible.
