@welcometothefingerlakes: Don't Forget about this when you are leaf peeping! This is the Sugar Hill Fire Tower in Sugar Hill State Forest, and the view from the top is one of the best in the #fingerlakes . This 68-foot tower was built in 1941, when forest rangers used it to spot wildfires across the region. Today it's free to visit and free to climb, and unlike a lot of fire towers in #newyork where the cab is locked shut, you can climb all the way into the top room for a 360-degree panoramic view. You're standing at 2,096 feet elevation, and on a clear day you can see all the way to Seneca Lake. It's only about 10 miles from Watkins Glen, sits right on the #fingerlakestrail , and the climb is short and family-friendly. If you're planning a fall foliage trip to #upstateny , add this to your list. The leaves are going to be unreal from up here. Would you climb to the top? #Hiking
