My parents both have drinking problems. I spent a lot of time proving to myself that I didn't. And I was right. I can stop for years without even thinking about it. I can get drunk without making stupid choices. . So yes, even though you don't have a drinking problem, you can be cautious. For the exact same reason you wear a seatbelt even though you're a safe driver.
