Yeah if my toddler wants to re-pave my driveway or mow the yard, I’ll hold the fuck up.

you forgot to film the part with the numerous reminders, countdowns, etc. and yet they’re still neck deep in some activity and act as if it’s the first they’ve heard they need to be done 🫩

yes! kids play is silly and meaningless to adults, but that is their WORK. they put time and effort into their play, so who am I to tell them their work is unimportant or insignificant? I understand where parents are coming from but if you give a 5-minute or 2-minute warning and consistently follow through on the expectation, most kids are responsive (yes, even yours) and will pick it up.

It’s funny that a lot of people have never considered that their child is a person lol. Like them having their own thoughts, plans, feelings etc. is a novel concept to yall? Yikes…

since before she was old enough to understand ive given my daughter a 30 minute warning when possible and never less than 10. then i give a half way timer 3 minute timer 1 minute timer and we count down the last 10 seconds together. I've never had a melt down needing to leave or for bed time and shes 5.

I agree that we should treat kids like we do adults but telling them too early gets them frustrated as they don't understand time and waiting well yet.

Yes but also I can warn the child 37 times and if they still start replacing the driveway then that’s on them 🤷🏼‍♀️

i actually notice my kid responds MUCH better to all sorts of things with multiple warnings. “okay 10 minutes”. “a few more minutes remember after this it’s dinner time”. “okay, is it alright if i put this away? remember i said it’s dinner time”. no tears and he quickly complies

People think it’s ridiculous i treat toddlers/kids like their own person. Same people who wonder how I get kids to behave so well with me 🤣

So much disrespect for kids😭. I'm trying to teach my kids that if an adult would never say to another adult, they should never say it to you.

👏 Yes! They're humans too, just smaller ones. That's why I don't force them to eat stuff they don't like. Guidance not dominance.

Unfortunately my mother does indeed act this way with adults, or at least me and my dad.

No, this is not the whole story. The whole story is no matter how much time we give them, they always need two more minutes. Plus we already gave them a heads up. And we are outnumbered by them and it's usually an event we are doing for them because our whole life is now about them. AND they outnumber us. And sometimes you just have to draw the line.

I understand the concept, but i don't like the comparison, it's claiming apples for apples but I feel it's more like apples and pears if that makes sense
