Honestly I think that's a great system. Wouldn't work for me because I have a 3 year old I have to look after even when I want to curl up and not talk. But it's really sweet

This is adaptive partnership. It isn't babying the wife or being a bad husband, but understanding that giving her the ability to explain HOW she feels before overwhelming her. It's similar with autism, if the person is in red, you try to decompress. No talk, no touch, just calmness and quiet. On yellow days you can talk, but don't have full conversations and try to look at how you can get back into green.

sometimes its hard to explain or express ur feelings, this is a great idea this doesn't make u a child amd its not controlling its his way of figuring out how to help u without u get worse or having pressure to use words. i dont normally stutter but when my brain is going way to fast for my mouth I stutter or forget what I want to say cause I also have memory loss issues as well and I struggle with talking if im overwhelmed, and overstimulated. dont feel bad for him needing something like this to help him understand how ur feeling when u cant speak cause hes not a mind reader

I have depression and I find talking about how I am a struggle. I find talking about what I need a struggle. myself and partner came up with a system. instead of how my brain is, I tell him how my leg is. from bruised to caught in a lawn mower. from there he knows if I need a "you got this you can get up off the floor" or if I need him to take care of me

My wife and I are learning ASL because sometimes talking is overwhelming, or we are just overwhelmed and need to be nonverbal

It’s brilliant and sweet, he let you know he heard you even when you couldn’t say anything. He gave you a way to talk without words to help you.

it might work for some people. My kid goes non verbal so we have a system that works for us. too an outsiderwith no understanding it could look like controlling. My kid even has a social battery pin on their lanyard that they can control to show their feels/needs when we are out.
