isn't nostalgia just a form of grief only for ourselves? a private kind of mourning, one for the person only we knew, the entirety of what we were at any moment in time before now. and maybe, some of that pain is the inability for anyone but you to truly know who that person was. or maybe its a kind of pain for the people that knew who you truly were, but are different now too. growing and changing all the time is so, so strange
