For a moment, it looked like Valieva might finally have her chance to return to the international stage. 🌎 But then… it happened again. So what happened to Kamila Valieva? After reviewing 234 applications for neutral athlete status, the ISU announced on September 10 that Kamila no longer met the requirements to compete as a neutral athlete. Under the ISU rules, neutral athletes cannot be actively serving in the military or national security agencies, participating in military operations, or publicly supporting the war in Ukraine. Kamila’s father is a military officer.
