I saw Jerry Seinfeld’s stand up show in South Bend on 9/12. He was amazing. He said he wasn’t sure if he should still do the show and then someone walked up to him in the airport to thank him for what he does bc America needs some levity right now. So he still did the show. I’ll never forget that.

My teacher told me once that that episode of SNL gave everyone permission to laugh again. Even for a brief moment

I remember hearing 1 of the cast members talk about hugging 1 of the firemen and dust came off his jacket and suddenly it was "really real"

season 27 is forever my favorite season. it gets a lot of crap but those cast members & writers had to figure out how to continue the show in the face of such tragedy. season 27 deserves the highest praise. the people who worked on saturday during that time frame are so brave for continuing to make people laugh while the world looks so dark

There were people who worked for NBC who perished in the attacks. I can understand something like that would make that place in life very difficult… when the towers fell the world went with them, as I recall…SNL reminded us that we were still here and the time for healing was now.

SNL has been pivotal in so many historic moments over the last 50 years. Lorne Michael has truly given us a gift in the darkest times.

911 is so odd to me. I was a sophomore in HS but im in oregon. it felt so foreign to me. NY is basically another country

I can’t remember which cast member it was, but they remarked how powerful it was patting one of the firefighters on their back and there was still dust on his turnout coat.

She talks about it often in passing on her podcast. She fully appreciated then and still today what a profound responsibility it was
