Canada is continuing dedicated Express Entry invitation rounds for candidates with strong French-language skills in 2026. And French does not have to be your first language. Here is the process: 1. Check that you qualify for at least one Express Entry program. 2. Learn French to at least NCLC 7 in: • speaking • listening • reading • writing 3. Take an approved French test: • TEF Canada • TCF Canada 4. Enter your valid results in your Express Entry profile. 5. If you meet NCLC 7 in all four abilities, you may become eligible for French-language category draws. You may also receive: ✅ 25 additional CRS points if your English is CLB 4 or lower, or you did not take an English test ✅ 50 additional CRS points if you also have at least CLB 5 in all four English abilities Important: One French ability below NCLC 7 means you will not qualify for the French-language category in that test result. So do not prepare only for speaking. You need all four. Also, this is for immigration outside Quebec. You do not need to live in Quebec simply because you used French. The realistic plan: Check your current CRS. Calculate what French could add. Start structured French lessons. Prepare specifically for TEF Canada or TCF Canada. Retake the test if one section falls below NCLC 7. People spend years repeatedly writing IELTS while ignoring the one skill Canada is actively prioritizing.
