La scena della testa di cavallo nel film "Il Padrino" (1972) è uno dei momenti più iconici e cruenti della storia del cinema. Nella trama, Don Vito Corleone invia il suo avvocato Tom Hagen a Hollywood per convincere il potente produttore cinematografico Jack Woltz a scritturare il suo figlioccio, Johnny Fontane, in un nuovo film. Woltz rifiuta categoricamente, insultando la famiglia Corleone. Come rappresaglia e avvertimento finale, Woltz si sveglia nel suo letto trovando tra le lenzuola la testa mozzata di Khartoum, il suo prezioso stallone da corsa costato 600.000 dollari.  Curiosità sulla produzione - Era una testa vera: Il regista Francis Ford Coppola non era soddisfatto dei modelli artificiali. Fece inviare sul set una testa reale proveniente da un'azienda di cibo per cani che macellava cavalli. - Lo shock dell'attore: L'attore John Marley (Woltz) non era stato avvisato che sarebbe stata usata una testa vera. Le sue grida di terrore nella scena sono in parte una reazione autentica allo shock e all'odore del sangue reale.  Significato simbolico Il gesto rappresenta il potere illimitato della Mafia: dimostra che l'organizzazione può penetrare anche nei luoghi più sicuri (la camera da letto privata) e che la prossima vittima potrebbe essere Woltz stesso se continuerà a rifiutare "l'offerta che non si può rifiutare".  The horse head scene in "The Godfather" (1972) is one of the most iconic and bloody moments in cinema history. He had a real head sent to the set from a dog food company that slaughtered horses. - The actor's shock: Actor John Marley (Woltz) was not informed that a real head would be used. His screams of terror in the scene are partly an authentic reaction to the shock and smell of real blood.
