I was at work in the DC newsroom of a national cable news network. I was so busy and probably in shock all day that it wasn’t until after 6pm that it occurred to me that my sister usually took the PaTH through WTC as part of her commute to work. I remembered that I’d heard her boyfriend had started a job in the kitchen at Windows on the world. He was an aspiring chef. But her commute didn’t cross my mind until I finally could get a phone line and talk to my mom in Upstate NY and she told me my sister had had the day off and was safe.

A friend’s son worked on the 104th floor I think. He had only been employed since June. He practiced running down all of the stairs to the subway. It was 7-8 months before his remains were found, at the entrance to the subway. He made it, but no one anticipated the collapse.

My former roommate's father was a psychologist and his office was in the trade center. He was not in the office yet. His receptionist was. She died in the tower. He could not live with it and committed suicide not long after.
