I quit smoking after 15 years of 2 packs a day back in march of 2006.... and one of the things that helped me stop was acknowledging that I was no longer a smoker. Not trying to quit.. but a flat out NON smoker. I think of alcohol the same way. I havent smoked in 20 years and I would never say I dont smoke bc I have a smoking addictiin issue or have nicotine use disorder... Im simply a non smoker... and a non smoker would never pick up a cigarette to see if I could smoke it without automatically wanting another. I will just never put a cigarette in my mouth again bc... ew.

I had no problem calling myself an alcoholic when I was still drinking “hard”. Now that I don’t drink, I do not use that title “alcoholic “. It is a negative psychological label we don’t need to have our entire lives when we finally quit drinking. We just dont drink anymore…..Thats all🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️

I don't think we should call ourselves an alcoholic when you don't drink. I say to myself if I drink I will be a problematic drinker
