This job isn’t for the faint of heart or the ones who don’t take their own healing seriously.. it’s not about you (the therapist) or how YOU feel hearing these things or how hard it must be for YOU 🧾in session. You can learn from your emotions, just as you teach as your clients to. But in the moments that the people in front of you say the hardest things, your job is to let them explore how saying that feels. Where it comes from and how long it’s been there. 👁️ You don’t transport to every time you wanted to unalive, or your depression got worse.. or you couldnt get the care you wanted. ❕❕❕ You dont think about your life and your feelings ?? because at that point how could you possibly be present for your client? And moreover, if you havent healed these parts of yourself- or least have a space that you go to heal- THEIR THERAPY SESSION IS NOT YOUR PLACE TO HEAL. As a therapist there are many moments where we find healing through our clients. They share moments in their life that mirror our own. We leave each day with mini thought prompts- vignettes that both inspire and cripple us. But then we go to our healing space…..meditation, journaling; yoga, our own therapy. And we think about our own lives and our experience with the stories you shared… etc BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, WE DO THE WORK THERE. Just like we allow our clients to have their session be their space- and their space only. we must have our space OUTSIDE of your session. ##therapy##depression##depressionanxiety##MentalHealth##tiktoktherapist
