@la.saddgirl: Some of my hardest battles have been fought in places where nobody knew I was fighting. Sometimes you don’t make it all the way home before everything you’ve been holding in catches up with you. Sometimes it’s the parking lot. You sit in the car a little longer than usual. The music is playing, but you’re not really listening. You stare out the window, take a deep breath, and finally let the tears fall because you know the minute you step out of that car, life starts again. People see the strong version of you. The one who handles things. The one who shows up. The one who figures it out. They don’t always see the moments when being strong gets heavy. I’ve learned that strength doesn’t mean I never break down. Sometimes strength is giving myself those few minutes to feel everything I’ve been carrying instead of pretending it doesn’t hurt. So yes, sometimes I cry in parking lots. I wipe my face. Fix myself up. Take one more deep breath. And then I go back into the world. Same woman. Same heart. Just a little lighter than I was before.
