it's basically like this: someone wanted to release a game like coolboarders on N64, but all N64 owners cared about was "bing bing wahoo" so they had to kid it the fuck up. this happened with a lot of properties actually. like how EA wanted an N64 racing game, so they took the NFS3 engine and made beetle adventure racing. a game with bright colors, power ups and no need to choose a car based on any real world criteria. it's an NFS for kids. I'm not denouncing this, I just find it funny. but a lot of N64 games were simpler or chibi versions of multinplatform games
