I hate people with a black and white mind set, my friend is a psych nurse and genuinely anything can send you into psychosis if there is enough drastic change or instability in your life. For people to say that would never be them, they just don’t know how close our brains are from snapping and what triggers are lurking beneath the surface

My professor used to tell us. The only difference is a very thin line of resilience. Be grateful you can’t understand that struggle. But it doesn’t mean to not have empathy for it.

well said. we honestly forget life is a game of luck. saying that could never be you implies it’s a self inflicted reality.

this is exactly how i feel about people with substance addiction. people are so quick to demonize them without taking the time to get to know the why.

Yup I always say instead I PRAY it’s never me because life hits everyone differently and I never want to be tested that way and have to learn humility.

childhood trauma follows into adulthood, the devil hides behind it and Jesus is the only one that can heal it. when you judge an adult mindset you're judging their childhood trauma.

It’s a privilege to be able to say “could never be me”. Trauma can rewire/ rewrite everything you thought you knew about your self.

When I started reading charts and realizing patients had similar childhood’s as me I completely understand and I have so much gratitude that I was able to pull myself out darkness alone and hold space for those that haven’t yet . I’m able to nurse with empathy and love not just for my patients but my own Inner child.

I went on a first date last year and told him how I had lost 130 lbs. He promptly told me wow that’s great, it’s disgusting that you got that big though. I looked him dead in the face and calmly said “well I could have jumped off a roof instead of eating to handle my depression” he felt real uncomfy about that. It’s real easy to judge how people cope when you’ve never had to experience any trauma.
