I called him back and said that he has still not answered my question about what's unique about me and that he only said I was nice. Then he said that he's tired and doesn't have time for this shit atm. And then I asked what he means and he said he's too tired to talk now and doesn't want to and that it'll just end up being shit. I was telling a (male) friend about my first boyfriend, how he had a lot of terrible trauma from his childhood (he literally had the worst childhood possible, abusive family, mom who unalived herself, deadbeat abusive father etc.) and how we broke up because he would get into these black outs where he didn't know what he was doing and was violent (he had told me himself when he gets like that he could unalive someone, and then he would be sorry, but in that moment he would not know what he is doing), so he tried to choke me, and then I broke up with him (after 5 years). My friend asked why I left him and did not try to save him - maybe because I had to save myself first?! I guess this is how a lot of men think, even the nicer ones, like we owe them every sacrifice possible, even our lives...

Oh, this is true. Men love a woman who doesn't love herself. But they want her to love herself (or appear to) before he gets in her life and then as soon as he's in her life he wants her to gradually lose that love she had for herself until she's tolerating every form of disrespect that he sends her way. They don't want women who already have low self-esteem, they want to be the reason you lose your self-esteem. That's how they believe women love them.

Yup. They want women to twist themselves into pretzels to make things work. To sacrifice your dignity pride and self respect while offering, nothing. Just went through this. He said “I used to do what worked for the girl, nice things and stuff and now I do what works for me”. Won’t get therapy instead punishing women
