I was at school. They blacked everything out but a teacher I was close to called me down and told me, because he knew I had so many military family members. I was able to call them and say goodbye. They deployed the next day and we didn’t heard from them for months after.

I had just come off the night shift in my fire department. I was getting ready to go to bed when my sister knocked on my door. the first thing she said was "we are at war". I got dressed and rushed to my moms office to watch it on TV in her conference room. saw the second plane hit on live TV. ive never felt so helpless in my life. I still pray for the families that endured such grief. there were so many heros that day. not just the fire and police and emergency workers, but every day civilians that stepped up to help in any way they could! I wish we could go back to the togetherness of 9-12, 2001.

I was in a training meeting for a bank I used to work for. I remember they stopped the meeting and sent us home telling us what happened or what they thought at the time. The second we heard, myself and everyone in the class began calling everyone we knew in the city. When I got back to the house I used to live with two friends one of which was her birthday that day, emergency/military helicopters were flying above our house to the city. We sat all together horrified and crying around our coffee table watching the news eating melted ice cream birthday cake.

I was 24 and just started my first real job out of college in CT not that far away. I will never forget that day and the horror and helplessness I felt as we watched it all happen in real time in TV. I cried my eyes out for weeks. I cry every anniversary

I was in my senior year on high school in my Chemistry II class. Remember we watched the news all day. It was a somber scary day. And that is how that day, 9/11, is always.
