@chrispbacon.1: The Twin Towers were the two iconic skyscrapers of the original World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan, New York City. * North Tower (1 WTC): 1,368 feet (417 m) tall, completed in 1972. * South Tower (2 WTC): 1,362 feet (415 m) tall, completed in 1973. * They had 110 floors each and were among the tallest buildings in the world when completed. * Their exterior featured a distinctive grid of closely spaced aluminum-clad steel columns, giving the buildings a sleek, repetitive appearance. * The towers stood side by side with a large plaza between them and became one of the most recognizable parts of the New York skyline. * They were destroyed in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
