@cinemaoccupy: Children of Men (2006) Dir: Alfonso Cuaron | DP: Emmanuel Lubezki The car ambush in Children of Men runs about four minutes with no visible cuts. The camera sat on a custom rig that rotated 360 degrees inside the vehicle. Blood hit the lens and they kept it. Emmanuel Lubezki built the sequence by stitching multiple takes together so the seams disappear, and it took eight days to get right. Cuaron did not tell the actors exactly when things would happen, so part of the shock on their faces is real. The film cost $76 million and made $70 million. It lost money on release. It took three Oscar nominations including Cinematography, and the long take method Cuaron and Lubezki developed here is the one they carried into Gravity and Roma.
