@russellruffino: The people in that role weren't bad at it. The job was impossible. Nobody can listen to every call a team makes. So they sampled. Then they told me what they remembered of the sample. Two layers of guessing before any of it reached me, and I was making decisions on top of that. This isn't really a sales team thing though. Almost every decision in a small business runs on somebody's recollection of something they half watched. How the onboarding calls are going. Whether the new hire is landing with clients. What people actually ask about in week three. You're working from a summary of a memory of a sample, and then wondering why the fix never fixes it. You don't need to be big to sort this out. Record everything. Read one transcript a week, properly, all the way through. Start with one of your own.
