The frustration is very valid because I don't understand how did the author manage to slip the cracks roughly. I get the gist of having a 2nd ML. What i don't quite understand is the instant shift of Yuki's affection from Tohru to Machi and by having us believe that what he felt towards Tohru was just a maternal affection he was seeking. I would perhaps understand it if the author just did it that way without Machi's presence because it made Yuki a fool out of it. Their romantic trope was executed poorly that until now it cannot be redeemed. If they could have at least want Yuki to end up with Machi, they should have at least prepared for a sequel rather than incorporating it to s3. It stresses me out how Yuki was lowkey discarded easily because Kyo and Tohru is sailing. It feels like it has lost its purpose so they just have him with Machi. U cannot tell me otherwise. I am not here to debate.

this is whats lacking for us in this generation that seeing two people being close instantly tells it as being in love with each other, remember yuki told machi's brother that he saw tohru as a mother figure not only that but you can see in tohrus actions why yuki see her that way because he felt tohrus warmth his mother could never give her, he was flustered because he never felt such warmth and motherly care from someone and the romantic parts!? it was actually yuki trying to feel something if it really is love or something else as he stated that he did try to look into it as romantic but he couldn't just feel it. so the romantic scenes you're seeing is yuki faking by acting all romantic to find out if he likes her or not. why i think tohru wasnt it? because even the first time they met tohru did not see through yuki actually because tohru still sees yuki as the 'prince' and you can even tell she still struck yuki as she sometimes states him that way, compared to machi she knew yuki was lonely at first glance because she went through as he did. being forced to be perfect, yuki was stunned at what machi said when he heard her and he felt like for the first time he was actually understood instead of beinf looked through his appearance. they understood each other really well. (and as ive heard from manga readers the anime SKIPPED so many parts of machi and yuki actually bonding) i think its because the anime was focused on the sohma family and it felt so rushed
