AGREE!!!!! I GREW UP IN WASHINGTON DC!! SAME SENTIMENT!! I was also too young… but my dad saw the plane go into the pentagon, since he worked in a high rise a block or so away. He saw the fire ball and all.

This…I’m from NYC and vividly remember 9/11. When I moved to New Orleans, I immediately began educating myself more on Hurricane Katrina and the long lasting impact it had. If you’re living in a new place, I feel like it’s your responsibility to learn about the history of the place and the experiences of the people that are from there.

I was born and raised in nyc and I’ve always experienced the grief of that day around me even if I wasn’t alive but honestly now, starting college by World Trade Center and taking classes in a building that was destroyed that day, hits twice as hard. Never forget.

I live in CT and know first responders who drove down the next day to help in any way they could. People take it quite seriously here because and I can’t imagine being somewhere in the US that just considers this a normal day

Even outside of NY, 9/11 changed so many lives. i was born in Baltimore, MD but moved to Georgia when I was 2. My dad is a pilot and he got home to Baltimore the night before 9/11. (i was basically one year old) However, after 9/11, a bunch of pilots were laid off, including my dad. my dad was out of work for like 3 years and it led up to move to Georgia to be closer to my grandmother and other family living down here. we’ve been in Georgia ever since (we’ve moved around the state a bit but still here). basically, if 9/11 hadn’t happened, our whole lives would be different.

Upstate NYer here, like Lake George NY, we take the anniversary very very seriously. I’ve met people from all over the world through my work and truly, people outside of the tristate area don’t understand the gravity.

I’m from Idaho and knew nobody personally affected by 9/11 but I am emotional every year. I pay my respects, I’ve visited the memorial. I will never forget. There are many of us in the US who feel this way

yess LI new yorker here. everyone i knew growing up had someone they knew in the towers that day. my dad lost a friend in the north tower. 9/11 was talked about and everyone who tragically died were ALWAYS honored around me growing up. when i was 18, i went to college at pace in fidi and so many ppl who moved into the dorms from other parts of the country had no idea about how devastating 9/11 truly was. i grew up going into manhattan every weekend and i remember before the freedom tower and memorial pools, that area was a mess and it would frighten me sm as a kid. it will ALWAYS be never forget.
