@big.brere: “I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO D!E”: CHICAGO MOM SHOT MULTIPLE TIMES OUTSIDE HOME Erin Jenkins, a 33-year-old mother in Chicago’s Bronzeville neighborhood, is recovering after being shot nearly a dozen times outside her home while preparing to take her daughter to school. The shooting happened around 7:51 a.m. on September 3 near South Lake Park Avenue and 40th Place. According to police and Jenkins, a man approached in a black sedan, got out, and opened fire. Jenkins suffered gunsh*t wounds to her chest and arm and was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition. She has undergone two surgeries. Jenkins said she feared she would not survive and told her daughter to get down and run as bullets struck nearby. Her daughter later returned with police on the phone and helped stop her mother’s bleeding using her school sweater. Jenkins believes she may have been the victim of mistaken identity. Police have not announced an arrest or determined a motive, and the investigation remains ongoing.
