@tifftpham: Episode four of Mogul's "Chief Officer" show is live, with a leader who has held the chief officer seat four separate times. Betty Larson is Chief Human Resources Officer of Merck, and a Mogul Top 100 People Leader of 2026. Before Merck she was CHRO of GE HealthCare, CHRO of Becton Dickinson, and CHRO of C.R. Bard, which was her first. What struck me most is that she never went looking for any of it. She is not sure she ever set out with the chief officer role as a destination or an aspiration. She drove her career around a different question: what are the bigger problems I can solve. And when I asked her what she is proudest of, she did not name a business result. She said the count is up to ten or eleven former direct reports who are now CHROs themselves, and that what she is proudest of is that she is still in contact with every one of them.
