King Jaja full name was Juoajuomagbuo Ozumba Mbanaso. The white man couldn't pronounce Juoajuomagbuo (ask questions before killing), so they called it Jaja. He called the place Opobo meaning opu obu ama, an Amaigbo man that lives outside the obi/obu, by way of ipu obi/obu.

Since King Jaja of Opobo was killed on July 7, 1891, he has not been buried. The white people bound his body, and up till this day, his body is still in Opobo. The old man who said that he was buried under his statue is telling a big lie. King Jaja has never been buried ever since he was killed. The person who killed him was his own child, the one who was next in line to the throne. The son impregnated one of King Jaja’s wives while King Jaja was on his way back from exile.
