A lot of people have asked me what happened to Dustin, so I wanted to share his story. In 2019, Dustin was serving in the United States Army. During a routine Army physical fitness test, he suddenly collapsed while running. According to his wife, Lindsey, the reason he collapsed was never determined, but the lack of timely medical attention resulted in an anoxic brain injury, meaning his brain was deprived of oxygen. In a matter of moments, everything changed. Dustin was a husband, a father, and a soldier. He had a wife to come home to, children to watch grow up, and an entire life ahead of him. His wife went from building a life with the man she loved to facing a future neither of them could have ever imagined. Their family has endured years of emotional, financial, and personal struggles since that day. And the part that gets me the most is knowing that Dustin is still here. He’s still someone’s husband. Still someone’s dad. Still a man who served his country. I didn’t know Dustin before his injury. I never got to meet the man his family knew before that day. But I’ve had the privilege of getting to know the man he is today. And I hope that when people see Dustin in my chair, they don’t just see a man with a brain injury. I hope they see the soldier, the husband, the father, and the human being who deserves every bit of love and respect he receives. Because even though his life changed that day, his life never became any less valuable. And as long as I have the opportunity to tell his story, I want to make sure people never forget that. 🇺🇸 #dustin #usarmy #parbaby
