I've seen all too often that yoga is being taught outside the context of social justice, and outside of it's roots. Ever been in a class where a teacher sprinkles in Sanskrit, waves incense, or chants a mantra without honoring the meaning, lineage, or culture? That’s not yoga, that’s appropriation. Sacred practices like mantra, mudra, and Sanskrit aren’t props to make your brand feel spiritual. They’re living traditions meant to transform us from the inside out. Yoga isn’t here to give you a vibe. Yoga is here to liberate you. Let’s practice in a way that uplifts, not appropriates.
