CRITIQUE: Zootopia 2 Zootopia 2 is a great Disney movie and one of the things I appreciated most about it was how much it felt like an homage to Disney’s classics. It has that familiar sense of adventure, humor, heart, and creativity that made so many older Disney movies memorable, while still feeling like a natural continuation of the world established in the first Zootopia. What really worked for me was the way the movie captures that classic Disney feeling without simply trying to copy what came before. There is a warmth to the story and the characters that makes the movie feel genuinely fun and sincere. It balances comedy with more emotional moments really well, and it never loses the sense of charm that makes a Disney movie feel distinctly like Disney. The animation and world-building also add a lot to the experience. The world feels lively, detailed, and imaginative, and there is always something interesting happening visually. At the same time, the movie still keeps its characters at the center. That balance is important because the best Disney movies are not memorable just because they look good; they are memorable because you actually care about the characters and what they are going through. I especially liked how Zootopia 2 seemed to embrace Disney’s history. There were moments throughout the movie that reminded me of the spirit of older Disney films—the sense of wonder, the comedic timing, the emotional sincerity, and the way the story can be enjoyed by both kids and adults. It felt less like a movie simply trying to continue a successful franchise and more like a celebration of the kind of storytelling Disney has been known for at its best. Overall, I thought Zootopia 2 was a really strong Disney movie. It is funny, charming, visually impressive, and full of heart. More than anything, I loved how it felt like an homage to Disney’s classics while still maintaining its own identity. It reminded me of why Disney movies can be so enjoyable in the first place, and I had a great time watching it.
