British is a collective of anyone born in any of the countries in the United kingdom. Ancestry/Ethnicity is English, Scottish, Welsh, Irighiri, Jamaican, Nigerian (you can go further to subset your indegenous roots), Pakistani, Indian etc. Your kids born in the UK and Black British (if you are black from Africa and any other diaspora). When you tell your kids that they do not belong in a place they were born, the only place they know you are setting your kids up for low confidence etc. It is okay for your kid to be a Nigerian British and also be whatever ethnicity you belong to ancestrally. Do not conflate the two, that man is a racist.
