So, in May, I took my last walk through the halls of Frederick Douglass High School as a staff member. Wow. I made a decision to give education a break for a while to focus on my family, ministry, music. It didn’t really hit me until now.🤦🏾‍♂️😭 I started with the Class of 2026 in their 9th-grade year and had the privilege of moving up with them until graduation. Along the way, I also got the chance to teach and mentor the Class of 2027. So, leaving before their senior year was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make. For the last four years, I’ve been a full-time teacher, a full-time student, a full-time Worship Pastor, and a full-time Gospel artist. Looking back, I honestly don’t know how I did it… but I know God’s grace carried me every step of the way. We’ve been through it all… losses, breakdowns, breakups👀🤣, victories, disappointments, celebrations, and everything in between. They watched me during my very first year of teaching. They watched me get married, record You’re Gonna See It, become a father to Cooper, grow, learn, travel, love, and evolve. Every conversation, every lesson, every whooping👀📏🤣, every laugh, every tear, I wouldn’t trade any of it for the world. This next season of my life is going to be DIFFERENT… but it’s ALL God. I got emotional this week after receiving a simple text that said, “See you on Monday.” Not this time. 😭 To Frederick Douglass High School, my students (my KIDS… I’m here FOREVER🤞🏾), my fellow staff members, and parents thank you for four unforgettable years. Thank you for trusting me, growing with me, and allowing me to be a small part of your story. @Briona Holmes or letting me do this work without complaint.
