I have met several prominent Ghanaian personalities at Dubai Mall, including Sam George, Sammy Gyamfi—the current CEO of GoldBod—and others. When Sam George visited the shop where I worked, I even asked my colleagues to play Ghanaian music to welcome him. But when I approached and offered to shake his hand, his reaction left me embarrassed in front of my colleagues. I didn’t ask him for money or any special favour; I only wanted to greet a fellow Ghanaian. But meeting Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh—NAPO—was completely different. He welcomed me with a genuine smile, shook my hand and spoke to me so kindly. He was humble, gentle and truly down to earth. Once again, I wanted nothing from him; I only wanted that simple feeling of connection between two people from the same homeland—and he gave me exactly that. That brief encounter showed me the true character of the man. NAPO made me feel recognised, respected and proud to be Ghanaian. Anywhere I see him, I will always remember and speak about the humility and kindness he showed me. May God continue to bless you, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh. Your humility speaks louder than any title. 🇬🇭🙏🏾
