The slavic people have origin of a term "слава", "славни", "словени". Which means glory, or people who praise the one true God, Jesus Christ. Which is completely opposite of slavery. These peoples adopted Slavic literacy and the Christian faith from the brothers Cyril and Methodius.

The English word "slave" originates from the word "Slav". The English word comes from the Medieval Latin word sclāvus (meaning "Slav" or "captive"). This came from the Byzantine Greek word Sklábos, which was used to name the Slavic peoples living in Eastern Europe. During the early Middle Ages, large numbers of Slavs were captured and sold into forced labor across Europe and the Mediterranean. Because so many enslaved people in Europe during that time period were of Slavic descent, the ethnonym sclāvus slowly changed into a general noun meaning "forced worker" or "captive" by the 9th and 10th centuries. This is not true interpretation. Slav means glory and the name of the Orthodox Church they have is Pravoslav which means glory to God a correct way, or a right to worship. Just because in your language it sounds similar to slavery it doesn’t mean that it was linguistically correct in Slavic language meaning.
