Umm… that’s called a backhanded compliment! If you think your wife looks good, tell her directly. The whole idea of withholding compliments so she “doesn’t get a big head” is pretty old-fashioned and very Greek taken too far, it becomes a way of keeping someone insecure rather than simply showing appreciation.
