@pastward: If you love vintage gadgets, check out this 1956 fridge with features modern models lack—rolling shelves, self-ejecting ice trays, and a huge freezer designed for ultimate convenience. Discover why smart fridge design peaked decades ago! #vintagefridge #ancientinventions #kitcheninnovation #smartappliances #retrodesign
They also lasted much longer. The reason «we stopped» is because you don’t make money from making good quality lasting products. You make money by selling cheap crap that breaks after a short time.

if you look back alot of companies that built stuff to last are no longer in business that's because with the influx of cheap foreign goods so we moved from an industrial nation to a consuming nation so its actually our fault because we chose to buy the cheaper stuff and eventually put alot of the companies that made good stuff out of business. Lookbat America pre Walmart there were grocery stores and many other consumer goods stores everywhere. Walmart came along and because that bought stuff by the millions of units they got it super cheap and could sell it to you cheaper then every other store forcing the closure of stores that have been in business for decades. It our own fault

Culture changed. Back then, food was made using fresh ingredients. Today's meals are usually kits and pre-prepared/cut/canned foods.

If it lasts, there’s no money to make from repeat buyers.

And you can probably find a fridge from 1956 clean it up a little bit and it would still work. It might use a little bit more electricity, but it would still work. You buy a fridge now and if you get seven years out of it, you’re lucky.

1st off, a refrigerator from 1956 most likely is still running. A fridge bought in 2020 is done!
