Farm Tomita’s Traditional Lavender Field is typically best from early to mid-July, while some of the other flower fields peak slightly later in the month. The lavender scent was one of the things I noticed most while walking around. Farm Tomita also harvests its lavender to make essential oils, perfumes, soaps, dried flowers and other lavender products, so there are plenty of lavender-themed souvenirs to browse too. It’s not only lavender either. Some of the fields are planted with colourful rows of poppies, baby’s breath and other seasonal flowers, creating the rainbow-like scenery Furano is known for in summer. We visited as part of the same Klook day tour from Sapporo, together with other Biei and Furano attractions, so it was an easy way to see several Hokkaido countryside spots in one day.
