Two weeks ago, we put out an urgent plea fo Roger. A family came forward, and we thought this one year old boy had finally gotten his chance. Unfortunatelv, Roger has already beer returned. I am not saying this family found Roger through my page. But 1 do want to say something that applies to EVERYONE who sees the dogs I post. Please do not adopt just to adopt When you bring a dog home, you are making a commitment to the long haul. You have to be prepared for decompression, patience, structure, training and working through pehaviors that may take time to understand Some dogs walk into a home and immediately settle in. Others need weeks or months to fee safe enough to show you who thev are. This video was taken after Roger was neutered pefore his adopter picked him up from the shelter. At that point, he had alreadv been there for a week, and I was becominc apprehensive because the pickup was takinc so long. I wondered why he was still there and whether the adoption would actually happen so I took multiple videos of himRoger was absolutely terrified Hle was so scared that he was trying to melt into the kennel and disappear And now, after already being given a chance and then returned, Roger is facing euthanasia AGAIN. He is only ONE YEAR OLD. This bov needs someone who understands that fear does not disappear overnight. He needs a rescue, foster or adopter who is prepared to give him time, structure, patience and the opportunity to learn that he is finallv safe. Please share him. Tag cattle dog rescues, experienced fosters and adopters wha understand what it means to truly commit to a dog for the long haul.
