I fully stand behind we see more behavior issues in later years of early education. Because the students aren’t up to par which causes frustration for them. They act out instead of asking for help

My daughter was very behind in math her 8th grade year. we did 1 hour of remedial work every night and she caught up and is flourishing in geometry honors now. she scored a 5 on her EOC for algebra 1. it is doable, but it takes effort at home as well!!

I work with 8th grade students who have no idea how to do long division…a couple who have no understanding of how to subtract and borrow when needed. I am very worried about how high school will go if I can’t get the concept down with them now!

Every single one of them with a parent who says “they just don’t get math 🤷🏼♀️” but never made them do their homework, never made them memorize their addition and multiplication facts, never show them how adults use math in the real world etc…

We need to get back to basics in grades K-2nd Reading, Writing and Math. Listen to your teachers when we say certain concepts need more time for students to master instead of a scope and sequence.

When I had them in 5th grade 2/3 didn’t know their math facts. Doing fractions is difficult when you can’t multiply and divide.

Yep. I told admin under ZERO circumstances will I be changing a grade that I have all documentation (or lack thereof) proving is earned. They can sacrifice their own integrity, not mine.
