I grew up in Massachusetts. Almost everyone uses oil for heating. Electric is ridiculously expensive. And a lot of rural areas do not have natural gas. So it’s oil or propane.

Ct here I’d say at least 40-45% of people use oil here. It’s going to be very hard for us oil users to heat our homes.

Heating oil is the most common form of heating in rural areas in the north. Not sure why Google says otherwise but it most certainly is.

Chester county, Pa here. LOTS of people use oil here to heat their homes. I have to oil burners on my house. Thankfully I have lots of trees and a wood stove.

This is how I find out that not everybody uses heating oil? I had a friend that lived in a community growing up in their homes were solely electric and their house was always so cold because they couldn’t afford to use the electric that much.

Grew up in Mass everyone had oil!!! And the sheer panic of when you realize you’re running out and need an emergency fill on a weekend is stroke inducing 😂

in MA 52% use utility gas (1.5 million homes), 20.5% use electricity (half a million homes), 20.2% use heating oil/kerosene (half a million homes). Just bc it's not the MOST common, doesn't mean it's not used at all. source - Mass.gov Massachusetts heating profile
