IMHO modern monetary theory needs to get into your reading list at some point. this is sincere constructive feedback don't take it as an attack

Stiles is pissing me off too. she criticizes Ford which is good, but she isn't saying what she would do instead. Why are these "leaders" so incompetent?? 😭

Controlling the bond yield and price dynamics isn’t what these genius think about , they are only thinking that higher interest rate = lower inflation, and we already proven that interest rate targeting had procyclical effect on the economy which actually causes higher rates =higher inflation . The bond yield /price dynamics are just market adjustments mechanisms that is secondary to the rate setting mechanisms. I would rather have governments to use fiscal policies to provide the platform than to use this financial instruments for attracting investments

Ageeed, but we need to keep more manufacturing of resources in Canada to create jobs etc. One example (many others) - selling raw or pellets to Chin/US instead of manufacturing own lumber.

Good morning! What are your thoughts on a UBI (I'm sure you've covered this before) for "getting paid" if Canada can get more foreign investments for our natural resources, Canada makes a lot of money and then we have money for UBI. I'm not an expert... just an idea. Love your videos!

There probably is no better time for the NDP to be pressuring the government on a social development strategy. Carney is focusing on the economy through business investment, job growth, military investment, foreign investment, capitalizing on our resources etc. leaving gaps in social development - income being the most significant. The strategy around income should include UBI.

So sick of listening to Avi Lewis. He just wants to play the blame game and point fingers, yet he has done ZERO to come up with his own plan or ideas. He’s the PP of the left and it’s exhausting.

I will admit to some initial suspicions for the investors summit, but that's more due to lack of faith in expecting 'regular people' interests to be covered.
See Alberta pisding away the historic oppourtunity with O&G, for example (not just the last 20 years, the full run of how if could have been handled).
And that's not a unique problem to the province, but a facet of human nature.
But I hope that gut suspicion is wrong, I really do.

Canadians have around $3 Trillions invested in the US stock market. When the Canada Strong Wealth fund gets created, retail investors could move some of the 3 Trillion in the wealth fund. As Canadians, we need to stop relying on the government entirely for investments.

Fostering entrepreneurship at home would be wonderful too and educational system to assist. Like you said workforce is an asset and we could try to avoid the brain drain if we were fostering new ideas and business

I think this is indicative of where we are in the world from a political view, we have politicians with no real world experience. This needs to change, experience should be reviewed as part of the electoral process, with an agreed upon mandate of real world experience vs political experience.

Maybe if everybody’s evolving their financial strategies they’ll just hold the rate. I know it’s a longshot, but I’m an optimist.

The cons have STOLEN the NDP platform as being the advocate for the working people. The most hilarious part is that the unions have voted cons like they did in the US

My problem with the federal NDP for the last decade or more is they seem more focused on discrediting the sitting government rather than influencing policy. All I can assume is they are working with the wrong kpi's like increasing the number of seats or %popular vote but it's very short term thinking and ultimately ineffective...especially in the current all hands on deck environment.

I haven't liked Avi from the get go. I'm losing faith in the NDP here in Alberta for the same reasons. I don't like that Carney closed the door in Aboriginal consultations and the environment. At this point, I kinda think maybe it's ok that AI might put us into extinction. The US is just stupid and the entire geopolitical world is just a giant grift. I think I need to check out for a while, like 15 years.
