The answer is easy. That’s why they wanted to have the boat pumped out. They still needed to get it home and you can still sink In shallow water. If it get completely submerged in 4ft of water the boat will be destroyed. By the audio it sounds like they were already being towed and that is why the depth changed from 17 to 31. You read off the coordinates while you’re moving and then they ask you how deep the water is and the depth of water has changed from the coordinates. You can tell they were moving because they said put it in idle and jump in and pull the plug. You wouldn’t pull the plug unless you were tied of to be towed and ready to go or under your own power.
