I’ve often wondered why Dumbledore “loves knitting patterns”. I’ve imagined that it gives him new ideas on how to combine different types of magic, taking them to a level no one else has ever even considered.

They both had different intentions. One was to kill (Voldemort) and the other was to buy time to prove Voldemort came back. If he killed Voldemort he would’ve survived, because of the horcrux still out there. The prophecy needed Voldemort to kill Harry, or Harry remained in peril. It wasn’t aura farming like some people are thinking, it’s strategy with levels to it; and discipline that Voldemort was incapable of having because he lacked empathy. Dumbledore had a role to play and he stayed in his lane, for Harry.

Lets not forget that in all these areas where it was supposed to block anyone from apperating, tom completely underestimated the house elves. Which is how the locket was able to be stolen in the first place, and what helped harry and his friends escape Malfoy manor

Dumbledores whole goal of the battle in the books is to keep Harry safe, BUT mainly as you mentioned, stall Voldemort so the ministry can see him and it cant be argued anymore
