no no, it was modeled after a capoeira fighter. his fighting stance is the exact same as capoeira and it uses dancing like fighting, exactly like capoeira

hitmonchan is based off of jackie chan hitmonlee is based off bruce lee. thats the name inspiration at least. chan is modeled after boxing lee is kickboxing. like hitmontop doesn't fit within the naming convention of the other 2 or even recognizable as a fighting sport. it doesn't really fit with the other 2

the fact still remains that its out of place. if it wasn't a stand alone, that'd be one thing, but its put in a trio with Jackie CHAN and Bruce LEE. the Japanese ones also had popular Japanese martial artists that they were named after. Hitmontop is just kinda ... there?
