Donald Trump is the President of the United States, elected by the American people, and that democratic choice should be respected. Ireland also has very strong economic ties with the United States. Hundreds of thousands of people in Ireland work directly for American companies, while many more are employed by contractors, suppliers, and businesses that depend on them. American investment supports a huge part of the Irish economy. For that reason, Ireland should value its relationship with the United States and show proper respect to the American President, regardless of personal political opinions.
