@amy_santoro: There are similar similarities, and that they both had a NGRI defense and were tried in front of the same judge, but that’s about it #truecrime #lindsayclancy #latarshasanders #law #massachusetts
I went into pychosis after a week of no sleep. I really believed I was part of a crime drama on TV called line of duty. in hospital I got so angry that the drs wouldnt believe I had to leave to go save my family. I was so detached from my reality and life. it still scares me that my brain can do that and I was convinced. im so glad I wasn't violent

Thank you for including the fact that black women often aren’t taken seriously when they self report symptoms to their doctors

I can tell you right now just reading that same bit, baby she was definitely in psychosis. I also want to make people aware sometimes psychosis slips up on you, they appear fine and functional and it’s that one small change or thing you know that they would never do that’s your clue, this is not the nurse talking this is personal experience as I watched this with a very close relative just weeks ago, it was a tough time for us, because Dr wanted so hard to tell us it’s behaviors and we were pushed and pushed and we were right

I used to believe that stuff. Its scary. I now consider it a psychotic episode because i was CONVINCED. I was living in a completely different reality. I couldn’t tell what was real anymore, everything was a conspiracy. I could suddenly relate to the feeling that people can hear your thoughts. Terrifying place to be.

There honestly needs to be soooooo much more research with mental health in women as our symptoms do not present the same in men and more often than not we’re dismissed and Black women and POC are often dismissed at higher rates.

Oh the illuminati rabbit hole got me many years ago that stuff just messed up! I can only imagine what that conspiracy could do with an already fragile mind

It’s wild to me that doctors can say someone isn’t psychotic when they’ve just murdered their kids. No one in their right mind does this, even if it is intentional. Diane Downs purposefully hurt her children and tried to kill all of them and there’s no question she’s a deviant sociopath. But deviant sociopaths also aren’t “normal brained” people. Now I believe she’s where she belongs and no amount of therapy or drugs can cure sociopathy, but for a doctor just to assume nothing else is going on is insane work.

Both cases just make me so sad for the children. Imagine you have a loving mother and then she slowly declines until she kills you. I cannot imagine their fear and confusion in their final moments and it’s so devastating.

POC are often under diagnosed too (no recorded history doesn’t mean absence of symptoms - but I’m sure u know that), I’m curious how her team may address this

statistically mental illness is less in Africa Americans but I honestly believe that's only because of being misdiagnosed but more so the lack of diagnosis/care. its really heartbreaking.
