I think he’s leans closer to a narcissist. Who drops their wife off at a mental hospital and then goes skiing? He might not have unalived his kids but he didn’t prevent it either. Why not let the kids go to the grandparents house as they requested? That was his response. Not hers.

I would love your take on his relationship with his current wife. If it’s to believed. She was the love of his life and she left him. With Narcissists it’s not over until they say it is. The new women comes from a well to do family. Has a high status job. Narcissists need all that. Did he choose Lindsey. Because she looked like her and it was a way for him to feel in control ?

you can also become numb to the situation that was traumatic or hurt too much emotionally. I think it can happen.

Yup. Traumatic events can trigger the amygdala and put you in a shutdown mode. Sometimes it can last for months or years. The brain releases opioid like chemicals & floods the body with it. You go physically & emotionally numb. You have no feelings. No desires. No ability to love or care. Feels like the “I” part is gone and all that’s left is the passive observer.

I also thought maybe he was so traumatized his coping was through moving on as quickly as possible. Because apparently he really had an awful reaction when this all happened. So maybe he blocked it out or something.
