Someone commented, “I wasn’t ready for an Arizona summer. Way too hot here!” Someone else said, “It never felt like home.” And then: “We moved from CA to Gilbert a year ago and LOVE it. It’s not for everyone but it fits our family.” Same state. Completely different experiences. Here’s what I believe after living in Arizona since I was 4: People don’t regret Arizona. They regret HOW they chose it. When someone packs up and leaves 1–2 years in? It’s almost always one of these four things: 1️⃣ They picked the wrong area. Gilbert, Chandler, Queen Creek, Mesa, Scottsdale, Tempe all have a completely different energy, pace, and lifestyle. Where you land in the Valley matters MORE than moving to Arizona itself. 2️⃣ They underestimated the summers. It’s not just incredibly hot. It changes how you LIVE. Your grocery runs happen at 7am. Your kids play outside at dusk, not noon. One follower nailed it: “Visit in the summer before you decide, the heat changes your daily routine.” 3️⃣ They never built a life here. No go-to coffee shop. No weekend routine. No neighbors they actually knew. It never stopped feeling temporary and they felt alone. 4️⃣ They moved for the house, not the lifestyle. More square footage doesn’t equal a better life if the day-to-day doesn’t fit who you are. And it doesn’t feel like one big mistake. It just slowly, quietly feels… off. That’s why I care so deeply about WHERE you land. Gilbert, Chandler, Queen Creek, Scottsdale, Tempe and Mesa all live very differently and one of them is going to feel right the moment you drive through.
