@socratessworld1: IFC 087 - If your child wasn't born in the UK but has lived here for years, this matters. Under the child Private Life route, a child under 18 who's lived in the UK continuously for 7 years may qualify for permission to stay — but meeting the residence requirement is only step one; the Home Office must also assess whether it's reasonable to expect the child to leave. If they turn 18 after applying but before a decision, they're still assessed as under 18. Haven't reached 7 years before turning 18? There's a fallback — the half of life test: an 18-year-old needs 9 years in the UK, a 20-year-old needs 10. The last point is a bit confusing. Can I child that was not born in UK apply for ILR straight after living in UK for 7 years? I mean after fulfilling the requirements outlined.
