@sheriffinsight: On September 5, 2026 while operating an F-4E Phantom II fighter jet alongside co-pilot Dimitrios Petrou when the aircraft lost altitude and crashed into farmland near the Tanagra military air base. The pilots were unable to eject and died in the impact. Dimitrios Petrou age 37 was an experienced aviator. The aircraft belonged to the 338 Squadron “Aris” of the 117 Combat Wing. Defense Minister Nikos Dendias declared three days of mourning across the Armed Forces, from Saturday, September 5th through Monday, September 7th following the deaths of the two crew members. #airforce #military #rip #fyp #fighterjet
